REV. VALERIO MORALES, JR.
McALLEN - Rev.Valerio Morales, Jr., 85, an American Hero died Friday, December 17, 2010 at his residence. Born in McAllen, Texas on September 9, 1925, he proudly served in the U.S. Army in WWII. Serving in the 106th Infantry Division in Belgium, France and Germany as a sniper, he fought bravely in many battles. He fought in the Ardennes offensive which is more famously known as the historical Battle of the Bulge. Rev. Morales was attached to General Patton in the northern side of the Bulge along the
Ambleve River between Stavelot and Toris point along the Salm River to the south. He was awarded three bronze stars for his acts in combat heroism and two commendations. Rev. Morales, a man with great conviction had an unsurpassable faith for our Lord God. As the Pastor of Iglesia Bautista Nueva Jerusalem, he was a spiritual leader of many and led many to Christ. Upon his retirement and up to the end of his life, he did missionary work in Reynosa, Mexico.
He is survived by two daughters, Judith Deleon of McAllen and Joanna Elder (Brian) of Dallas, Texas; five sons, Joshua Morales of Dallas, Texas, Joel Morales (Melda) of McAllen, Jonathan Morales of Dallas, Jonas Morales (Celeste) of Dallas, Valerio S. Morales of Dallas; a stepdaughter, Reyna Ramos (Miguel), a stepson, Jacob Guerrero both of Mission, Texas and 20 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Valerio and Petra Morales and his sister Maria Morales Cerda.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM, today, December 20, 2010 at Kreidler Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Baptist Temple at 1 PM. Burial will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery. His loving grandsons will serve as his pallbearers: Jacob De Leon, Justin Morales, Christian Morales, Rodolfo De Leon, Nathan Morales, and Miguel Ramos.
