NORA BAPTISTA Obituary
Edcouch - Nora Ramos Baptista, 54, daughter of Benito and Vicenta Ramos, entered into eternal rest Friday, afternoon, February 18, 2011 at Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Edcouch, Texas.
She attended and graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School and thereafter enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. She travelled throughout the world with her husband who was also in the USMC. After his retirement from the USMC, they settled in the San Antonio area. Nora was a devoted and loving wife and mother who will be greatly missed.
Nora was preceded in death by her father Benito, her mother, Vicenta, her brother Jose Ramos of Edcouch.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Baptista, and her loving children, Dulcia and Auggie and daughter-in-law Mika, two grandchildren Sonny and Mina of San Antonio. Other surviving family members are her other 7 brothers, 1 sister, numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins of the Lower Rio Grande Valley.
A visitation will begin on Monday, February 28, 2011 from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary to be held at 7:00 pm that same day at Castillo Mission Funeral Home 520 N. General McMullen in San Antonio, Texas. A funeral procession will depart on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 11:00 am for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church 13715 Riggs Helotes, Texas with interment to follow at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

My dear sweet "best friend", Nora. We grew up together. Went to same migrant school in EE. But we really became good friends in hs. I will forever cherish our deep friendship. We could spend days, months or years apart, but when we talked, we just picked up where we left off. As if time had stood still. I look forward to seeing you again someday, my dear best friend. Nora was a good friend of mine who I grew up with. We use to go to her house when we were kids and watch TV with her and with other kids, Gilligan’s Island is what we watched. When we were teenagers we would go out together. We had alot of crazy fun times. I really miss her very much. I lost touch with her when we moved to California. When FB came around I was able to contact her and I was so happy and then shortly after that is when she passed. I couldn’t believe it. I really miss her. To the family, God bless you all!
