Beverly Vedros Lancaster

Funeral services for Mrs. Beverly Vedros Lancaster, age 91, of Tallulah, will be held at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Tallulah on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., with Father Patrick Curley officiating. Visitation with family will be at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, from 5:00-7:00 P.M., followed by a wake service and Rosary. Interment will be at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah immediately following the Mass of Christian Burial.

Mrs. Lancaster was born in Lutcher, Louisiana on September 12, 1921, and she died peacefully at the Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah on April 27, 2013, after a lengthy illness. She was a graduate of Lutcher High School and Mabin Business School in New Orleans. After moving to Tallulah in 1948 with her husband, Edgar H. Lancaster, Jr., she enjoyed her life as a homemaker, mother, and traveler. She was active in church, social and civic clubs until her illness confined her to her home.

Beverly was predeceased by Edgar H. Lancaster, Jr., to whom she was married for sixty-five years; her parents, Philip J. Vedros, Sr. and Solange Melancon Vedros of Gramercy; two brothers, Philip J. Vedros, Jr. and Barry Vedros; and two sisters, Wanda V. Jackson and Ina Claire V. Gunter.

She is survived by her children: Judge Michael E. Lancaster and his wife Becky, of Tallulah; Patricia Ann (Patsy) Lancaster and her husband Billy Clapp, of Ocala, Florida; and E. Hunter Lancaster, III and his wife Terri, of Monroe; her grandsons: Will Lancaster and his wife Jennifer of Ruston; Kris Lancaster and his wife Kristi, of Maurice; and Ethan Lancaster of Monroe; and one great granddaughter, Madison Lancaster of Maurice. She is also survived by eight siblings: Lorraine V. Oubre, of Lutcher;Mary Ellen Vedros, of Baton Rouge; Carolyn V. Laurent, of Pontchatoula; Eleanor V. Vincent, of Harahan; Jennie Vedros, of Paulina; Dr. Neylan Vedros, of Healdsburg, California; Dr. Ralph Vedros, of Gig Harbor, Washington, and George Vedros, of Covington, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Active pallbearers will be Will Lancaster, Kris Lancaster, Ethan Lancaster, Mark Vedros, Stephen Vedros, David Oubre, and Paul Laurent. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. L. P. Neumann, Jr., Dr. Thomas A. Neumann, Philip Vedros, III, Kent Lancaster, Allan Placke, and Dale Placke.

The family wishes to express its sincere thanks to the staff of Olive Branch Senior Care Center, Dr. L. P. Neumann, Jr., and especially to Jackie Daniels, Marilyn Turner, Virginia Marshall, Bobbie Stewart, Earline Whitney and Mary Lee Burnett for the loving and tender care which they have given to our loved one for the past several years, and to the late Father Ferreolous D'Cruz for his nurturing of our mother's spiritual needs for the past fourteen years.

In lieu of flowers, any planned memorials may be made to St. Edward's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1309, Tallulah, LA 71284-1309; Madison Historical Society, Inc., P.O. Box 268, Tallulah, LA 71284-0268, or to the charity of your choice.
