Ray "Bud" Ates

Ray "Bud" Ates 67 Urania, LA

Bud was born December 14, 1945 and made his home on earth in Urania, LA. Jesus came and got him and carried him to his Heavenly home, July 7,2013, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be Tuesday July 9, 2013 at the Pine Hill Baptist Church at Urania at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until time of service. Burial will follow in Urania Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla.

Bud loved to hunt and fish, and loved the outdoors. He was a very skilled carpenter. He loved doing things his way, and to know him was to love him.

Left to cherish precious memories of Bud is his son, Jimmy Ray Colson and wife Stephanie of Farmerville; his brother, Vernie Ates of Swartz; his sisters, Gwile Cox and husband Billy of West Monroe, and Bobbie Evans of Sterlington; his grandson Jimmy Colson, Jr and wife Laken; grand daughter Adriana Colson of Farmerville; his great grandchildren, Clareese, Dawson, and James; also a host of nieces and nephews and numerous friends. His family and friends were very special to him, and he loved them dearly. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

The Ates Family would like to extend a Special Thanks to the staff at Hardtner Medical Center for the wonderful, loving care given to Bud while he was there.

Serving as pallbearers will be Clint Carter, Dale Cox, Wayne Corley,Jimmy Colson, Jr., Dennis Smith, and Scott Wyles. Honorary pallbearers include D.L. Durham, Paul Jones, Ikey Harris, and Roger Williams.
