Anja, 25, passed away in Seattle, Washington on Wednesday, March 9, 2011.
She was born in Olympia on May 22, 1985 to Carol Ann and Walter Lee Thompson. She grew up in Lacey and graduated from Timberline High School and attended South Puget Sound Community College. She was working as a server and with customer service at the time of her death.
Anja loved her family, music, pet care, travel and going to the ocean, hiking, nature and parks. She had attended New Life Baptist Church, Church of Living Water, Lacey Presbyterian Church, Timberline Baptist and First Baptist Churches.
Surviving her is her mother, Carol Thompson; brothers, Richard (Jennifer), Will (Katharine) and Drew Thompson; sister, Sarah Thompson; and her pets, Mia, Marley, and Alexander the Grey. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Lee Thompson; and grandparents, Will Henry Davey, III Margaret By, Anja Cleo Thompson and George Washington Thompson.
The family suggests memorials be made to Concern for Animals, PO Box 4422, Tumwater, WA 98501 or the family at South Sound Bank, 2006 Harrison Avenue, Olympia, WA 98502.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, March 15th, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the New Life Baptist Church. Arrangements are with Funeral Alternatives of Washington, Lacey, 360-491-2222.

There is a Mass for Anja, in the Morning (Saturday March 10) at St Martin's Abby at 8am. I would love to see you there. It was the last place we worshipped together when she took her World Religion class at SPSCC. I can honestly say that she always loved.

It is still so unbelievable that our Anja is not with us anymore...except in our memories and our hearts. We miss her constantly...her beautiful face...her smile...her energy. And I cannot believe that it has been a year.
I still have a voice message on my phone of her seeing if I wanted to cover a shift and of course she giggled and ended the message by saying "ok babe, bye". Love her and miss her so very much.

just lost another friend... it always leads me back to how much i miss you and how much time we lost. I love you so much and i know that you love me. i can always feel you.

This has been a hard week for me, dear. I don't know why. I think maybe it is hitting me just how far away you feel from us. I try and tell myself that it is not the case, but somehow the feeling lingers. There was so much more that I wanted to do with you, to talk with you about, to grow. Hey Baby Doll! Sarah got a new job and is doing better. I'm missing you more than ever and hope to get the court thing behind us soon. The boys aren't talking much to me about you. The cousins are having their 1st birthdays. Mia & Marley are sad.

It is always sad to loose a child. I can't even imagine the pain, the hole in your life of loosing aa child or sybling as your family has done. my condolences go out to you, Carol and the kids. y'all have had too many loses already. My hope is that y'all have happy memories to fall back in the sad times, along with each other and whom ever you have as a support or support group.

Dan and I are living in Arizona and just got the news of Anja's death. We remember Anja as a cute little blonde girl running around Timberline Baptist church where I was the secretary. No words can begin to remove your pain, but know that you are in our prayers.

There are no words that will soothe your pain for the great loss of Anja. Carol, I think of you often and when I heard about this tragic loss of your baby girl my heart aches. I can't stop thinking about you and your family as my prayers go out to you all. Keep strong and the faith of God will help you through this. To Carol and family- My deepest sympathy to you and the loss of beautiful Anja. When we were student and teacher years ago, her positive spirit shone brightly and her love of learning as well. I have worked with Anja for almost 3 years and loved her the first day I met her. She was fun, beautiful, loving, real and basically...amazing. I keep thinking I'm gonna see her the next time I work. I cannot believe she is gone. I love that girl so much.
To Sarah, Carol and the rest of her family...my heart breaks for you. She was taken far too soon. In her short time here...I hope you can see how she has touched so many lives so deeply. Of all the times that I saw Anja, she was smiling. Never once was that smile insincere. Everywhere she walked there seemed to be a glowing energy about her that was full of optimism and nowness. Carol, Hilton called to tell me of Anja's death. I went back to the 1990 Timberline Baptist Church directory where Anja was probably 2 or 3 years old. I remember being in your home which was alive with the voices of children. Sally and I have you in our prayers

Its hard in times like this to know what to say. I'm thankful to have had Anja in my life over the past years. I remember so many trips with her and Sarah. Anja would come over and watch movies with us, go out to dinners, drag my lazy butt to parks to play with Mia. I have never met anyone who loved life as much as she did.
It breaks my heart that she left us so young. Me Anja and Sarah had so many little jokes, and all time spent with her was fun. She was always smiling. I'm going to miss her every day of my life. You were like a sister to me and I'll never forget all the good times we shared.

Anja was a shining light with a smile that would brighten the room she entered. I will always cherish the last time I saw her and the loving hug she gave me. Peace be with her family and friends knowing she must have been one of God's special angels and she is with him now looking over us all. I will truly miss her.

It's hard to put into words how Anja has truly changed my life and helped me to become the woman I am today, we became friends instantly when I started working with her in 2006 when I was 16. My little brother had been diagnosed with Cancer.. she immediatley took me under her wing, told me about her father, and we spent just about every day together after that. We had a bond like no one else. We had so many laughs together, so many cries together, and so many memories made I couldn't be more thankful for. Anja was the first person I called when my little brother passed away, she was the first person I saw, and from that day on has always continued to be one of the greatest friend's I know I'll ever have.
She was amazing in every single way, her laugh was contagious, her smile and her eyes so kind, and you couldn't get a better hug from anyone! I will miss her everyday, but continue to be thankful that we became apart of each others lives, and treasure all the memories we have together.
