Hello Joyce and family- I was saddened to hear of Ian's death. He was so instrumental in getting my girls involved in Pony Club, and our family will always remember El Fonz, the horse we bought from Lavenham. He really did believe that every child who wanted to ride, should! My condolences to you all.

Hi Joyce, I was visiting on Vashon today and read Ian's notice. I am so sad to read this and my heart goes out to all of you! I have a similar memory as Ann Donaldson in that he visited me in Harborview after my car accident in the late 70s. He was the FIRST person I saw when I woke up. I recall thinking he was an ANGEL because he was wearing a white shirt and his white hair was so lovely. I think I asked "Ian, are we in heaven?" and he chuckled (as only he can do) and said, "No, we are at Harbowview" to which I replied, "But you look like an angel." He then LAUGHED and said "I am not angel," and then I knew I was alive.

Joyce, What fond memories I have of Ian leading a group of children, parents and of course horses to rallies, horse trials and games in Canada. He believed that every child who wanted to ride would have tack and a pony to use...a true Pony Club purist! Your and Ian's support and generosity to me and my girls will never be forgotten. I also will always be grateful for our inclusion in those delicious lamb meals. Fondly and with sadness, Ann Marie (Chambers) Carson

Joyce, I never appreciated all Ian did for me when I was a child, enough. Then I grew up to have a riding stable just like him and appreciated him most every day in a BIG way!

Oh Joyce I have a riot of memories from when Ian organized clinics at your stable but my fondest memory is of seeing Ian by my bedside in Harborview Hospital in 1990. I will never foget his thoughtfulness. My heart is with you, Ann Donaldson
