Raymond Rodway Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on May 6, 2017.
Raymond Bruce Rodway Jan 23,1943 - April 28, 2017 With great sadness we announce the passing of Ray Rodway, son of Arthur and Ethel and brother of Gerald, and survived by his loving son Alan Gordon Rodway (Jessica), life long friends Harvey Schoen, Sheila Young and Irene Rodway; cousins Barbara, Beverley and Shirley and their families. Ray enjoyed a wonderful 40-year career at UBC where he was the first apprentice (machinist) working in the Geological Scs Dept., retiring in 2008. Ray was a skilled tradesman who taught his son so many important life skills. He enjoyed playing hockey, softball, golf, playing cards with friends, nature's beauty and the science of everything. He will be missed very much. No service will be held according to his wishes. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the BC Cancer Foundation or SPCA.

Irene and Allen, only two plus years late. I just learned from Bryon that Ray left us on his next adventure in 2017. Even tho Bryon and I both live in Mexico, we dont talk much of the past. I send my sincerest condolences and pray that Rays passing was peaceful and without pain. Cate Rayburn

Irene, Alan and family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I worked with Ray at UBC for many years as part of the "technicians" in the geology department. I remember him with great fondness. He was a quiet man with great wisdom and skill. Also eager to help and offer good advice and was a great team member whom I looked up to. He will be missed.
