LORNA MCDOWELL Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Aug. 9 to Aug. 10, 2016.
MCDOWELL, Lorna Elsie
Born in Meyronne, SK on May 31, 1929, died peacefully, in Vancouver, in Hospice, on July 29, 2016. Predeceased by her parents, Lorne and Elsie, her brother George and his wife, Hazel (both in 2009). Survived by her beloved niece and nephews, David (Catrina), Diane (David Slater) and Steven (wife, Susan and their children, Scott and Julia), and her cousin, Myrle Lawrence (Drew Wells). Lorna wished to thank her special cousins and friends for their support over her time in Dialysis and during her cancer treatments. She especially loved her Dialysis "team"- Doctors, nurses and all! Lorna retired from MB, Vanply, after 32 years of service, which followed many years in various bookkeeping and managerial positions. There will be a Memorial Tea on Wednesday, August 10 at 3:30 p.m., at her assisted living home at 1570 West 7th Avenue. Lorna wished to be cremated and interred at Ocean View Cemetery; a family gathering has been held to carry out her wishes. She also wished that instead of flowers, a donation be made to Vancouver General Hospital, Dialysis Unit, or, to the BC Cancer Radiology Department.

Lorna was always a lady who had a dignified manner and I missed her presence when she no longer attended our meetings. My condolences to all of you.
