Ashtyn Rea Obituary
She was born Feb. 23, 1990, in Coronado, Calif. Ashtyn was employed by Herrin Security Bank and was a student at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
She is survived by her parents, Wally and Kim Sizemore Meneese of Herrin; grandparents, Gene and Suzie Sizemore of Herrin, Margaret and Roger Meneese of Herrin; two brothers, Wade Rea of Herrin, Kody Rea of Herrin; one sister, Shelina Meneese of Herrin; uncle, Steve Sizemore and aunt and uncle Jennifer and Todd Ruzich of Marion.
Other survivors included best friend, Ally Sims of Herrin; cousins, Austin and Hunter Sizemore of West Frankfort, Cody Meneese of Herrin and Dakota Blockley of Herrin; and several other aunts, uncles and cousins and several close friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011, in Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Inter-ment will be at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

So many wonderful tributes to a life that ended much too soon. You should be very proud reading the comments of the young lady you raised. She impacted many lives and I know is still missed by all. Life doesn't always seem fair, but when those things happen to us, sometimes we are meant to be a help to someone else along the way.I believe that's what Ashtyn would want, is for you to help someone else deal with tragedy as I'm sure she would have done herself. We never cease to remember those we lose, but just learn to cherish the wonderful memories all the more.

I went to school with Ashtyn, although we were in different crowds, I was thinking several weeks ago about where I would be if I would've talked to someone new or if I've had any impact on anyone ever; and Ashtyn came across my mind, so when I heard about her tragedy I was speechless. I recently lost my step-dad, and I have to tell you that it doesn't matter how many times someone says "I'm sorry for your loss," it just doesn't amount to much;as I'm sure family and close friends of Ashtyn have figured out or at least had the brief feeling. I am sorry that I missed many chances in my high school days to improve my life and help someone else in the process. Including going out of my way to talk to or help someone I normally wouldn't. Every Saturday I've been trying to do some walking, trying to get others to join me, but every one is always too busy. So if anyone would like to join me this Saturday June 25 at the Herrin Security Bank by the ATM at 10:00 am (to subway and back to ATM) in rememberance of Ashtyn or for any reason at all, you are welcome to. If this sounds rude or not necessary, I'm sorry it truly is not meant to sound as such.

I was really shocked when I heard this she waited on me at the bank every Friday. I will always remember the last conversation I had with her and I would like to share it with you I said you know what I like about you most is and she said now what can that be and I said you don't need make up as your so pretty with out it and she said your right I don't have any on. I said see ya next Friday she said I will be here. She will be missed by so many such a nice young lady. Thes is just so sad.

To the family and friends of Ashtyn, I am so sorry for your loss. She was a sweet girl with a smile always on her face and a laugh you could hear from a mile away. I got the priviledge of knowing Ashtyn through summer softball when we were younger. We graduated in the same class at Herrin and also had some classes at John A and SIU together. Just know now she is in a better place where no harm can be done and God is with her. We all now have another angel to watch over us. Her memory will never be forgotten.

She was a sweet girl who will never be forgotten. She was always a pleasure to be around. Kim & family, I can't begin to tell you how saddened Jack and I are at your loss. We've no child to lose, but have lost parents and understand some of the pain. I remember when we were neighbors and all the little girls on our street came to my Ashton's birthday party and thought it was so weird that we had two Ashton/Ashtyn's on our little dead end street.
