Kathryn Vancil Obituary

ALTO PASS -- Kathryn M. Vancil, 92, died Friday, May 6, 2011, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 20, 1918, in Alto Pass to A.W. Sturgeon and Minnie Huffstudler.

She married Joe Vancil in 1974 in Murphysboro, and he survives in Alto Pass.

Survivors also include a son, Wilburn Marshall Marks of Alto Pass; daughter, Lois Janene Marks Boone Moorefield (William E. Moorefield) of Alto Pass; son, Wayne and (Earline) Marks of Caseyville; six stepchildren; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Pearl Ogden of Apple Valley, Calif.

He was preceded in death by first husband, James Homer-Marks; sons, Tom Marks and Leroy Marks; brother, Albert Sturgeon; and sisters, Eloise Treece and Ester Hunsacker.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, in Walker Funeral Home of Alto Pass, with Minister Carroll Toler officiating. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the funeral home.
