Joseph Pison Obituary

WALLINGFORD - Joseph Victor Pison of Wallingford died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, following a brief illness, at Midstate Medical Center, his daughters by his side. He was 83.

Joe was born in Meriden on June 30, 1928, the youngest child of Giuseppina (Fontanella) and Vittorio Pison. He graduated from Meriden High School and Wilcox Technical School in Meriden, and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He owned a tool and die business, Titan Industries, in Wallingford. After he retired and sold the business he worked for Quest Laboratories.

Joe was devoted to his family, particularly his wife, Marion (Jenkins), whom he married Aug. 11, 1951, and who predeceased him in July 2010. Today would have been their 60th anniversary. Joe followed national politics with keen – and vocal -- interest and loved his perennial flowerbeds, which always drew admiration. He never missed an opportunity to complete a crossword puzzle, always in ink.

He was predeceased by his wife; his sister, Edna Pison; and his brother, Robert Pison. He is survived by his three daughters, Gail Montany and husband, Eugene, of Snowmass, Colo., Debra Kaczynski and husband, Robert, of South Windsor, and Vicki Pinto, of Wallingford; seven grandchildren; and a newborn great-grandson.

All who knew Joe are welcome to greet the family and share memories Saturday, Aug. 13, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Brothers Restaurant, 33 N. Cherry St., Wallingford. A graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested a donation be made in Joe's memory to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, 875 North Randolph St., suite 225, Arlington, VA 22203.

To all members of the Pison family,

I know this is an especially sad time for everyone. My heart goes out to all of you.. No matter our age or the age of the one we lose, this is a traumatic and difficult time for all.Even though we are never ready, we must all take our turn when our time is up. Although you will move on, you will keep forever in your hearts those great memories of a wonderful man.
I remember your dad always making me feel welcome with his warm charismatic smile and charm. He was always so nice and cheerful and eager to share conversation. And a great looker, I might add. I remember when I first met Gail and later introduced our mom's at our backyard pool,on Mohawk Drive and shortly afer when she met your dad, I will never forget her first remark, WOW! what a stunning couple they are!

He will be missed by all..
God Bless

My earliest recollection of your Dad was when that handsome young man in a Navy uniform visited his family on Liberty Street. I didn't get to know him personally but I'm certain that just like Edna and Bobby, he was raised to be a very special person. May you all be comforted by your happy memories; his love for you will never fade.
Fond regards,
Dolly from 499 Liberty

Dear Pison Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, and my heart goes out to you at this very sad time. I have such wonderful memories of your dad, especially during the summer after my first year in college when he hired me to work in his office at his tool and die shop. I will always remember the day he asked me to deliver a package and asked if I knew how to drive a standard shift car. I was a beginner, but he trusted me. I will always trashes those summer days getting to know your dad....and what a special man he was. He will truly be missed!
