I have just come across this obituary and not sure if this is the same Barbara Kennedy I knew in 1959 to 1960.

I'm from England and my father had a position as a doctor for 12 months at the Massachusetts General in Boston. I was 10 years old in 1959 and Barbara was 11.

We lived at 37 Lawndale Street in Belmont. I was in grade 5 at Payson Park School and Barbara was in grade 6. Barbara used to visit Lawndale Street and from memory stayed with her grandmother who lived next door. Barbara went on holidays then to Nantucket Island.

Although she was a year older than me we were good friends.

We returned to England in 1960 and for a while Barbara and I wrote to each other.

I only now learned of Barbara's passing when I saw her name listed in the In Memoriam section of the USJ Outlook publication. We were friends when we were both English Majors at what was then SJC, and I always appreciated her warmth and wit. My deepest sympathy to her family.

Barbara and I were in the same class at Sacred Heart Academy, graduating in 1966. I remember her vibrant personality and love of reading. I still "see" the dress she wore to prom! I'm sure she is sorely missed by all of her family and friends. It was a gift to me to know her for four short years. Rest in Peace, Barbara.

She used to tease that my friend and I were her favorites and I am sure she told that to all her students. My sincere condolences to her family and I am so very sorry for your loss.

How do I say goodbye to my good friend, Kennedy? She was a fun-loving, generous, mischievous, dramatic fireball who always enjoyed a good story and a good laugh. She raised three independent, selfless, loyal souls in her three children, Chris, Catherine, and Meghan and passed on her zest for life to all of them. I wish them and the rest of their family strength and peace as they move through this difficult time with the knowledge that Kennedy is with God receiving her reward for a life well spent (and maybe a tall glass of red wine, too!)
