Liana KINAR Obituary
March 14, 1959 – January 13, 2015
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Liana Kinar. Liana passed away with family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Liana is survived by her husband of 35 years, Terry; son, Robert (Erin) and their child Pierce; son, Greg (Lisa) and their children Dylan, Brady, Payton, Jersey, Victoria; son, Dwayne (Amanda) and his child Bryson; daughter, Angela (Mark); siblings, Sidney (Jackie), Cheryl, Jennifer, Douglas (Arlene); sisters-in-law, Sonia Douglas, Linda (Frank) Oystryk; and numerous nieces and nephews. Liana was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Emilia (Medernach) Schmidt; in laws, Ted and Olga Kinar; and brother in law, Don Douglas. Liana was born in Cudworth, SK where she attended school and completed grades 11 and 12 at the Ursuline Academy in Bruno, SK. Liana had many passions in life, she enjoyed playing and teaching piano, baking, gardening and took special pride in her flower beds. Of all her passions nothing came close to her love for her children and grandchildren. She loved every moment spent with them, making sure to always have special projects when the grandchildren came over. The family would like to thank Liana's oncologist Dr. Shahid Ahmed, oncology nurse Tracy Frank, nurses in Chemo 2, all the staff at the Cancer Centre, family doctor Dr. Ivor Baster, and the staff at St. Paul's Hospital for all your kindness and support. A special thank you to all of Liana's caregivers, your support, love and help with Liana was much appreciated. Memorial donations in Liana's name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Saskatoon Unit, 101-440 2nd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2C3 or to the St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Box 280, Delisle, SK, S0L 0P0. Vigil for Liana will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015. Both services will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 211 Avenue O South, Saskatoon, SK. Rite of Committal will follow in Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery. Sincere condolences to all of Liana's family and friends. I just learned of her passing last night when returning from a trip and I am so sorry to have missed the service.
I met Liana because of Lilo. We spoke about many things but especially of her love for her family. Her faith was strong and solid in Jesus and heaven was her sure hope and promise. We would pray together and share long hugs and tears. I will miss you, Liana, very much. I always wanted to see you healed and I know that prayer is answered in eternity. Your strength and courage will always be an encouragement to everyone who knew you. You always chose life and to enjoy each moment. Really at a loss to find fancy words... just really hurts to know you are gone.
