With heavy heart I send my deepest condolences to my Auntie Clara, cousins Lorna and Louise and your families of your loss.
Uncle Art was no doubt a very special relative in every way. How I loved being in the same room as this big, tall, strong and burly man with such a soft, quiet voice and warm and tender heart.
Some of my best childhood memories were out on the farm. Amused every time he'd return from the hen house and crack a fresh egg on his forehead and down it would go without a gulp then say, “That's how you eat breakfast”. Teaching me the farm life, tending to the animals and how to make gum out of the wheat kernels. My how tall both he and that wheat seemed to be back then.
I would be disappointed if I missed his visit into town as it meant I would miss hearing of another adventure that only Uncle Art would still be around to tell. Not sure if it was luck or dumb luck that he had. Listening to the pranks he and my Mom did growing up would no doubt have led into these amusing incidences throughout his long life.
My Uncle Art was an unforgettable character and with real life stories that still make me laugh.
Being near him always put a smile on my face.
May his memory always be near you and keep you smiling too.

Aunt Clara, and my cousins Lorna and Louise. Though we have lost touch over many, many years, I often think of my uncles and aunts and cousins and the great times we all had on the farm and in town...and down at the river fishing or on Lake Diefenbaker. And not to forget the building of the Gardiner Dam. Yes, I remember you all very well. And I have a photo taken at Uncle Don and Auntie Marion's house in Saskatoon. Standing at the back is Uncle Don, Auntie marion, my Mom and Dad.
Bottom row sitting is Uncle Art, Auntie Clara, Uncle Roy and Auntie Helen. The date is I think in the late 80's, early 90's. Aunt Clara, Lorna, Louise, my thoughts, love and prayers go out to you today. A very sad day indeed. Uncle Art was an absolute hoot to be around...he could light up a room just by us knowing that he was coming to town for a visit and a Doctor appointment. Sitting and chatting with him, there was never a dull moment. Calm, to the point and had us in stitches most of the time. So laid back and easy. Yes, those were the times. Rest well, Uncle Art. The combining will get done. Love you all.
