Darrell BROUGHTON Obituary
Darrell, born January 8, 1959 in Swift Current, SK, passed away September 5, 2016. He was awarded the Governor's General Medallion for academic achievement and later studied Architecture at McGill University. Darrell made his career as a Systems Analyst at the University of Saskatchewan. He was an avid animal lover, who was devoted to his dogs Milan and Oscar. Darrell is survived by his father, Reg Broughton and sisters, Jennifer Broughton and Debbie Valpy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Darrell's memory can be made to the Saskatoon SPCA Incorporated, Humane Society, 5028 Clarence Avenue, Grasswood, SK S7T 1A7. At Darrell's request, there will be no funeral service. To share memories and condolences, visit www.parkfuneral.ca "Obituaries". Well....my Mom has joined you up in heaven too Darrell. We use to talk about Dialysis and how you might have to been going on it too. Mom decided to go off Dialysis after 2 and a half years. She was so tired and missed Dad so very much. Now she is there with you and my Dad and your Dad too. I miss all of you. I miss talking to you. I miss your wisdom but most of all I miss the wonderful and wholesome friendship you and I had together.

Hi Darrell, your name popped into my head today so I Googled you and was very sad to come across your obituary.
I'm pretty sure you must be the Darrell who lived down the street from me in Yorkton, Sask for a couple of years in the late 60's. We were buddies and I have lots of memories from those days - a cardboard tunnel in your basement, a litter of kittens, a model of Frankenstein with glowing head that you kept covered with a paper bag at night because it scared you, playing in an unfinished apartment building behind your house, making multicoloured rings out of Sask Tel wire, getting pulled on a tobaggan behind a Ski Doo. . .
We left Yorkton and our paths never crossed again but you popped up from time to time in childhood memories. It sounds like you grew up to be a very special and much loved person. I wish I could have said hello on Facebook.

I am deeply saddened to discover that Darrell is gone. He often fell into long silences when not feeling well, but this latest silence will last forever. I will miss his companionship. I met Darrell on Facebook and joined the Black Eared Peas a few years ago. Darrell was one of those people that was warm and welcoming from the start. I will miss his posts about sharing rescue information for pets and his fierce determination to find all of them homes. The world is a little colder tonight.

I got to know Darrell about 6 years ago when Sam joined The Black Eared Peas. I loved his humor and wit, his kind heart. I called him friend, and thought of him as family. He will be missed by his blood family, his FB family and all that new him.

I can't imagine your pain in missing the brother, uncle, and son who Darrell was. A good, kind, caring person who encouraged others to give until it hurt for many, many animal rescues and causes.
