Akira HIROSE Obituary
August 16, 1941 – November 20, 2017
With heavy hearts, the family of Akira Hirose announce his passing at Royal University Hospital on Monday, November 20, 2017 with family by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kimiko Hirose; son, Tad (Rosa) Hirose; daughter, Kyoko Hirose; and grandchildren, Vanessa, Patrick and Lovely Rose, all of Saskatoon. A private family ceremony has been held, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to give a special thank you to RUH 6300 ward, Brenda and Jeremy Nightingale, and Karen Tanino for the kindness, compassion and support shown to the family during this difficult time. For those so wishing, donations may be made to the U of S Physics Department- Student Scholarship Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Hillcrest Funeral Home.

Dear HIrose family,
Our heartfelt condolences to your loss. It is very hard to believe that Prof. Hirose is no more. For nearly 40 years, I always knew where and when to find him. Just a few steps below downstairs in physics building, sitting at his computer or deeply working on a paper the involved electromagnetic equations. Yet, any knock on the door, I heard a firm "Hi" welcoming the visitor, quite often it was me. On rare occasions when he did not show up at office by about 7 AM, it was a reason to worry about his health. I very much miss him. But, we do know it is much greater loss to your family. Kiyoko and I send our sympathies to you. Stay strong. Chary and Kiyoko
