Newton Parrott Obituary

COLUMBIA — Funeral service for Newton Addison Parrott, 78, will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2009, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel in Irmo, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. prior to the service.
 
Mr. Parrott died January 2, 2010. Born November 2, 1931, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Dudley and Marguerite Herron Parrott. He had retired from the U.S. Post Office with 23 years, and the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture with 20 years. He was a Mason, Shriner and member of Park Street Baptist Church. He loved the Carolina Gamecocks, the Democratic Party, baseball and cars.
 
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Ann Parrott of Columbia; sons, Robert Neal Parrott, Columbia, William Crawford Parrott (Julie), Mt. Pleasant; sister, Doris Harrington, Columbia; grandchildren, Tyler and Nicholas and Alyssa Grace Parrott.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Park Street Baptist Church, 2204 Park St., Columbia, SC 29201.
