Wendell T. Parrott

SUMTER — Wendell Thomas Parrott, 92, husband of Mary Davis Parrott, died Saturday, January 2, 2010 at his home.
 
Born in Darlington, he was a son of the late Carl Parrott and Cora Burkett Parrott.
 
Mr. Parrott was a member of Grace Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 15 and a lifetime member of the Elks Club. He was the retired owner and operator of Parrott Candy Company and was a U.S. Army WWII veteran serving in the 389th Battalion in the Battle of Morotai in the Dutch East Indies.
 
Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two daughters, Beth Parrott Reynolds and husband Barry of Sumter and Macon, GA. and Deborah Parrott Turbeville and husband Mike of Cosby, TN; one brother, Dewitt Parrott of Riverside, CA.; one sister, Blanche Parrott Smith of Sumter; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
 
He was predeceased by 4 brothers; Howlett P. McNeil, Hugh B. Parrott, Cecil C. Parrott and John B. Parrott.
 
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Dr. James Chandler officiating.
 
Burial will follow in the Sumter Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers will be grandsons Michael Carroll Turbeville, Jr., Russell Bruce Reynolds, Wendell David Reynolds, Keith Barry Reynolds, Jared Gonzales, and nephew, Hugh Burk Parrott, Jr.
 
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post 15.
 
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, 1051 Arnaud St.
