GODFREY — Thomas Twichell, 68, of Godfrey, succumbed at his home in Godfrey, Friday, November 20, 2015, with his family by his side.
He was born December 8, 1946, in Alton, the son of Marion and Bernice (Hellrung) Twichell. He married Patricia Gentry on June 15, 1966 in Alton.
Thomas had worked for Broadway and main Produce Market for many years. He then retired from Millenium Rail in Wood River. Thomas liked to fish and loved football. He was a hard worker and dedicated his life to providing for his family. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Patricia; he is survived by three children and their spouses, Carrie and John Ross of Godfrey, Thomas Twichell of Godfrey, and Julie and Jason Bannister of Alton; four sisters and their husbands, Marilyn and Jack Quigley of Edwardsville, Jackie and Ron Lesicko of Alton, Carolyn and Mike Bradley of Godfrey, and Janice Downing of Alton; six grandchildren, Jeffrey and Sonya Ross, Amanda Twichell and Cody Mills, Tricia Twichell, Tabitha Twichell, Tommy Twichell Jr., and Patrick Twichell; six great-grandchildren, Trenton, Austin, Adylan, Jaycee, Cody Jr., and Kendra; a brother-in-law and his wife, David and Ann Gentry; eight sisters-in-law and their husbands, Janie Twichell, Paula and Perry Hagen, Malia and Billy Vicardi, Betty Jane and Bob Byers, Debbie and Rick Mitchem, Caroline and Don Folland, Cheryl and Jack Chippendale, and Linda and Jeff Tolle; his faithful dog, Sugar; and many nieces nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Bobby, Jerry, Don, Joe, and Jim; and a great-grandson, Dylan.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with Reverend David Gentry officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials may be made to his family to help with funeral expenses.
