CHARLES 'CHARLIE' CHAPPELL
DARDENNE PRAIRIE, MISSOURI — Charles Lee "Charlie" Chappell, 92, passed away at 12:57 a.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at NHC of St. Charles, Missouri.
She was born May 25, 1924, in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of the late Charles V. and Aleene (Ripplinger) Cates.
On January 10, 1953, she married Robert T. Chappell, and he preceded her in death on February 9, 2008.
She worked for Carson Jewelers in downtown Alton for 25 years, also for Peavey Company, Con Agra, for 20 years. She spent several years in Texas and while there worked for L.A. Utilities, a construction company. She was a member of Eastern Star and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and a former member of Eagles Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters and one son, Robbyn (Loren) Chiodi of Missouri City, Texas, Lisa (Kenneth) Scheve of Ballwin, Missouri, and Robert C. (Jana) Chappell of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; six granddaughters: Dr. Angela Sanford, Veronica Scheve, Danielle Chiodi Jones, Courtney Chiodi, Clare Chappell and Erin Chappell, four great-grandchildren, Blaise Sanford, Cecelia Sanford, Samson Sanford, and Charles Ray Jones IV, one sister, Sandra Nealy of Centralia, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters, Arthur V. Cates, Maurietta Bohner, Louise Brown and Beverly Gockel; and one great-grandson, Teaden James Chiodi Brown.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, Illinois, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 with Dr. Glen Greenwood officiating. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

I remember bowling with Charlie for several years at Acme Bowling Alley in Godfrey. We had many wonderful time there. We also worked together at Peavey/ConAgra, for many years as well. We always had fun when Charlie was around. We kept in touch over the years always around Christmas.You were the best Charlie!!
