Carl Theodore Maciejewski

Carl Theodore Maciejewski, 94, formerly of Avoca, PA, died on Friday, July 8, 2011, at the home of his daughter, Carole Lundeberg, in West Hartford, Connecticut.

He was the son of the late Walter and Mary Maciejewski Gleich, Dickson City, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances of 70 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Carole, and son-in-law, Russell Lundeberg, with whom he resided; his daughter, Phyllis and her husband Don Mojzis of Kure Beach, NC; brother, Walter Mattson of Camp Hill, PA; five grandchildren, Cheryl Lundeberg Lonergan, Kirsten Lundeberg, Russell Lundeberg Jr., Jennifer Wescott and Steven Wescott; four great-grandchildren, Christopher and Grant Lonergan and Ilsa and Anneli Lundeberg as well as several nieces and nephews.

He served in WWII with the US Navy. He was a retired Pennsylvania State Trooper and later served as tip staff for Judge Bernard Bromin ski in the courthouse in Luzerne County in Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 43, the American Legion and was a former Secretary of Duryea Borough. His family would like to thank Joanne Papillo and Kathy O'Neill of the HBCP at the Newington VA, the many caregivers and volunteers from McLean Hospice, and his loving caregivers, Eliza Nalepa, Jadwiga Sobota, Renata Sudyka and Marta Srebrna.

Family and friends are asked to meet at St. Helena's Church, Echo Lane, West Hartford, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2011. Burial with full military honors will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name can be made to McLean Hospice, 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury, CT 06067.
