James Walsh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 26, 2016.
James Douglas Walsh, 21, of Peckville, died Sunday morning after injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of Rhonda Reilly Walsh. James was a graduate of Valley View High School, class of 2013, and was a sophomore at Lackawanna College. He was employed as a chef at Vino and Tequila restaurants by Benny Dzurlic and Jannette Moran, who were like second parents to him.

A lifelong Peckville resident, he was involved in Boy Scouts as a young boy, and the Valley View varsity wrestling team. He was an avid fisherman, who also loved to read, especially about mythology and history. He enjoyed playing and collecting video games, watching movies, cooking, going on adventures, going to the gym and spending time with his friends.

James had a special relationship with his niece, Genevra. They were the best of friends and meant the world to each other. They were the light of each other's eyes.

Also surviving are one sister, Jessica Marie Vadella, Peckville; a niece, Genevra Angelina Vadella, Peckville; an uncle, Anthony Reilly, New York; two half-sisters, Maryellen Johnson and husband, Jay, Arizona; and Holly Walsh, Scranton; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Douglas and Jennie Lopez Reilly; and a great-aunt and godmother, Angeline Lopez Baldoni.

The funeral will be Thursday from the James M. Margotta Funeral Home, 1019 Main St., Peckville, with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Assumption Cemetery, Montdale. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

For directions or online condolences, visit the funeral home website.

The family would like to thank all of the family and friends who have offered their love and support during this most difficult time.

I sadly did not have the pleasure of knowing James outside of my humble store which he frequented many weekends, but I know that I am blessed to have had a tremendously loyal friend and customer within those small walls. We meet no one by coincidence, and I am forever grateful for the day both James and Adam came into my store for the first time. I will miss him greatly. All our love and support to his family and friends at this time.
