Doris R. Tyrrell

Doris R. Tyrrell, 89, of Carbondale, died Sunday at home. She was the widow of Paul Tyrrell, who died in 2010.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Frank and Anna Cannon Brieden, she was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. A graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale, she received nurse's aide training at St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, Carbondale. Before retirement, she was employed as a nurse's aide at St. Joseph's Hospital

The family would like to thank the staff of Southern Care Hospice, especially Pastor John Hardman-Zimmerman, Grant, Jennifer, Carrie and Robin, and also to the staff of Paragon Home Health Care, especially Kim Rucker and Dr. Tamrat Bekele for the outstanding care given to their mother.

Surviving are six children, Marian Staff and husband, Walter, Carbondale; Paul Tyrrell and wife, Marlene, Dunmore; James Tyrrell and wife, Agnes, Forest City; Joseph Tyrrell and fiancée, Cece, Forest City; Ann Tyrrell, Mayfield; and Doreen Lepre and husband, James, Carbondale; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Stanley, in 2010; two brothers, Walter and Frank; and an infant sister, Monica.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Mausoleum, Finch Hill.
