Lexington
James M. Weir, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at McLaren Mt. Clemens Hospital.
He was born April 29, 1947 in Centerline, son of the late Wilfred and Arline (Meredith) Weir.
Jim was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was also a member of the Port Huron American Legion Post #8 Charles A. Hammond, a Life Member of V.F.W. Post #796 in Port Huron, American Legion Riders, a Life Member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Blue Water Sportsmans Association, the N.R.A., D.A.V., and American Motor Cycle Riders Association.
He is survived by his soul mate Sue Deckers; son William (Amy), daughter Teresa (Scott) Mezuk; daughter April Russell; brother Robert (Karen) Weir; special children Melissa (Kip) Dowding, Stacia (Bud) Deemer, Doug (Tam) Restivo, and Nick McLachlan; 7 grandchildren, Autumn, Meredith, and Liam Weir, and Nathan, Brandon, and Stephen Mezuk, and Layne Locker; 3 special grandchildren, Jack and Jenna Dowding, and Emily Deemer.
Visiting will be 2-9 PM Thursday and 9-10 AM Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be held 10 AM Friday, July 29 at the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Lexington. Fr. Donald J. Eppenbrock will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Denis Cemetery. Military Honors by American Legion Post #8 Port Huron.

I was saddened to hear of Jim's passing. I served with Jim in the 5th Bn of the 60th Infantry 9th Infantry Division. I remember him as "Slip" and the story of how his uncle had given him that name.

Im sorry to hear the passing of Jim... He has tought several of us to appreciate music from all time periods. Many of us met Jim via the VVA chapter 154. He will be missed and our prayers are with Jim's family and friends. Sue i am sorry for the loss and i know it has been several years but your family has been in my thoughts throughout.
