He was my Uncle Al - and what a shame I didn't get to spend time with him as a grown up - he was always fun!

Al was a close childhood friend with whom I spent many hours together - shooting baskets in the playgrounds of the Bronx ("Don't dribble so much," he'd implore), watching TV on his family's flickering black-and-white set, attending classes together in grade school, at Bronx Science and finally at NYU's University Heights campus. As teens, we bantered about girls, argued over chess and exchanged dreams about the future. He was tall and darkly handsome and had a soaring IQ. Though we eventually went our separate ways, my childhood memories linger and I know he will be greatly missed by family and friends. My very sincere condolences to his wife and children.

Dear Donna. It is Hylar Friedman who sent us the obituary from The Day. Nicole and I talked about you this morning at breakfast. I reminded her that the reason I left academia to join Pfizer was an article Albert had written with Kenneth Coe and Nicole had fond memories of her English lessions with you.
Much sympathy and many memories.

What an impression he made on this one time teenager: brilliant, funny, "give me three vowels and two consonants" for a list of seemly impossible words, an amazing man. With many memories that will last a lifetime and much love to all the family as you rest and remember,

Donna, our condolences go out to you and the rest of Al's family. As neighbors, we could really appreciate the health caregivers that you provided him so that he could remain at home. Also, the frequent visits by family were heartwarming.
Al had a wonderful career at Pfizer and we heard through former employees there, that he was one of the most highly respected scientists in his field.
His outside interests were many and clearly show his intellectual abilities.
He will truly be missed and remembered for his accomplishments.
