THOMAS FIELDS

FIELDS, Thomas "Cal" Callaway, age 84, of Fluvanna County, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013. He was born April 19, 1929 in Bay Shore, N.Y. He was the son of the late Dozier Nelson and Louise Arnold Fields. Cal attended St. Thomas Choir School, New York City, Phillips Exeter Academy and Yale University. In June of 1951, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served our country in both Korea and Vietnam, retiring as a Colonel in April of 1974. On June 9, 1962 he married the late Captain Grace Overholser Fields, USMCR. From 1977 to 1978, Cal attended the University of Virginia and subsequently became a certified public accountant. He was preceded in death by one brother, Dozier N. Fields. He is survived by his two loving daughters, Marguerite Fields Kritzer and her husband, Clinton, of Bremo Bluff, Va. and Kathleen Fields Kannan and her husband, Richard, of Glen Allen, Va.; eight grandchildren; one brother, James W. Fields of Charlottesville, Va.; and dear friend, Barbara Ann Kritzer of Bremo Bluff, Va. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store, Va. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013, 1 p.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church in Bremo Bluff, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fishnet Ministries, Inc., P.O. Box 1919, Front Royal, Va. 22630, or to Grace Episcopal Church, Bremo Bluff, Va. 23022.
