CONLEY, Gertrude Hanson, age 96, of Barrington, R.I., and a longtime resident of Richmond, passed away October 2, 2010. She was the daughter of Fred and Francis Hanson of Yorkshire, England, and the youngest of six children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dana Holdsworth Conley. She is survived by a son, Bruce Hanson Conley of Richmond, Va., and Orleans, Mass.; daughters, Janis Conley Saylor and husband, Ed, Barbara Conley Anderson and husband, Eric, Deborah Conley Solyan and husband, Doug, all of Richmond; grandsons, Wesley Anderson and Stephen Anderson of Richmond and Michael Saylor of Washington, D.C. Gertrude was a duplicate bridge player, an avid sports fan, an accomplished seamstress and an excellent cook. She loved to balance her checkbook and excelled at crossword puzzles. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Henrico Doctors' Hospital and Medi Home Health and Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Avenue, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Forest Chapel Cemetery in Barrington, R.I. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gertrude's memory to the charity of your choice.

Debbie and family,
We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet mother. All of us loved spending time with her at your house for all of the different gatherings throughout the years. Always know a there's a piece of her inside each of you. Our thoughts are with all of you, through this journey.
