To the Carter Family,
I can see that Melvin was loved by everyone and he will be sorely missed. Take comfort in God's Words at Isaiah 41:10, whereas it says "God is with you, he will fortify you" in these sad times.
So family believe and know that God will give each of you comfort beyond measure at this time of void in each of your lives.

I am at a loss for words, and I cannot really say much except for how I appreciated Melvin for his generosity and sense of humor. He has always been a good friend, always ready to listen and lend a hand, and never failed to give a word of encouragement. I will surely miss him.
