BLAKE, Earl L., 87, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010 at McGuire VA Medical Center. He was the son of the late Louis E. and Ella Barber Blake; and the widower of Rita A. Blake. Mr. Blake was a veteran in the United States Army Air Corps having served during WWII. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and retired from ICI in 1988. He is survived by two sons, Richard E. Blake and wife, Peggy, and Bruce E. Blake and wife, Christina, all of Colonial Heights; three grandchildren, Richard E. Blake Jr. and wife, Kristen, of Glen Allen, Matthew Wayne Blake and wife, Adina, of South Boston, and Kathryn B. Gobble and husband, Travis, of Colonial Heights; four great-grandchildren, Ashton Blake, Tucker Blake, Audrey Blake and Tyler Blake; a sister-in-law, Ann Blake of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Reverend Fred Adkins officiating. Private interment. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, Bethesda, Maryland 20814 or the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Central Virginia Chapter, 2104 W. Laburnum Avenue, Suite 102, Richmond, Virginia 23227. Condolences may be registered at: www.ealvinsmall.com.

I was saddened to hear of Earls passing. I worked with him at ICI and he was always smiling. I know his family and friends will miss him. God Bless you all at this difficult time.

One of my fondest memories of Earl is having dinner with him and Emery at the restaurat up by the bowling alley. We had such a good time. He was one special guy and I am glad he was a part of my life. He will be remembered and missed by many. My prayers are with you all.

Dear Richard and Bruce,

im really sad about earl. he and rita were very nice to me. i worked with earl at revere,and got several problems solved later at his house.he was a first class machinest but mostly he was a great guy and ill really miss him.
