Almeda Rainey "Jimmie" Pearson

PEARSON, Almeda "Jimmie" Rainey, 93, of Emporia, widow of Leonard B. Rainey Sr., died Friday, March 12, 2010. She also was preceded in death by a son, Leonard B. Rainey Jr.; and granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Allen. Survivors include her husband, W. Ashton Pearson; three sons, James P. Rainey Sr. and wife, Joan of Emporia, F. Marion Rainey of Mechanicsville and Walter G. Rainey and wife, Brenda of Nashville, N.C.; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pearson was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Emporia where she was named Elder Emeritus and awarded a lifetime member of the Women of the Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church, 210 S. Main St. in Emporia, where the family will receive friends after the service in the Ladies Parlor. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church. Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt, Virginia is assisting the family with arrangements.
