Barbara Megginson

MEGGINSON, Barbara Ann Betterton, was born on November 30, 1947 in Lynchburg, Va. to the late John and Anna Betterton Sr. She entered into eternal rest at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Chesterfield, Va. on June 6, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Megginson; son, Shane Walker; two sisters, Dorothy "Peewee" Perry and Shirley "Tiny" Williams. Barbara attended Dunbar High School. She was briefly employed with the Lynchburg Public Schools System. She accepted Christ early in her life at Fifth Street Baptist Church, Lynchburg, Va. and later became a member of New Direction Evangelist Church, Chesterfield, Va. She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Terri "Iyanna" Brown; one brother, John C. Betterton Jr. of Escondido, Calif.; and two devoted friends, Alice Poindexter of Lynchburg, Va. and Tracey Tunstall of Chesterfield, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends. A memorial service will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Whitten Monelison Chapel by Bishop Roy Foots. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home and also at the residence, 715 Pierce St., Lynchburg, Va.
