James F. "Jim" Megginson, Sr., age 89, of Hockessin, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025.
Jim was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Charles and Frances (Thomas) Megginson, Sr. Soon after attending A.I. DuPont High School, he met his future bride, and they enjoyed a wonderful marriage for 62 years. Jim was a hardworking dedicated employee who retired after a long career of 35 years driving trucks for the Dairy Industry (Bond Bread) and Teamsters. He then decided to continue his career working for Arlon Corporation, retiring after 10 years of service in 2001. After moving to Millsboro, DE and still wanting to be active in the industry, he worked for Beaver Dam, Premium Pet Foods and Ace Hardware up until he was 82 years of age.
A true outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed fishing, boating, and hunting. He was a talented musician, and enjoyed playing bass and rhythm guitar in both the Back Bay Strummers Band and the Joyful Noise Band as well as family gatherings throughout his years.
A devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be deeply missed by all. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jacqueline M. (Sayers) Megginson, and brothers, Charles Megginson, Jr., Joseph Megginson, and William Megginson. He is survived by his children, Luann Maney (Joseph) of Chadds Ford, PA and James Megginson, Jr. (Donna) of Lewes, DE; grandchildren, Sean Maney (Sadie), Troy Maney (Brenda), Devon Smith (Shane), and Taylor Megginson; great-grandchildren, Sophia Wallace, Flynn Maney, Ziggy Maney, Indigo Maney, Nash Maney, Monroe Maney, Zoey Smith, Riley Smith, Noah Payton, and Tristen Payton; and many nieces and nephews.
All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
