Charles Deland Jackson, my brother. I hope that you enjoyed the songs that I sang. So many things we could have done. We always discussed each others problems. I don't make friends easily but you were always there. I will open up to more friends in your honor. The difference between you and any other friend that I ever had, is that if I was lost, you would find me. You as well as I, wouldn't let too much air get between us. There's a friend who sticks closer than a brother. I need your guidance now, but I know what to do. You're the big brother that didn't have, and you taught me well. Be strong in the work that the Lord has called you to do. As it was when you were here, all whom you encounter will prosper. " Be strong in the Lord and the presence of his might," this quote is somewhere in Ephesians.
Eternal gratitude and allegiance your grateful friend,
John H. Bullock-III ( Johnny Cake)

When I was a little girl I remember my daddy and my uncles laughing and playing dominos and cards, and those are fond memories. I can remember my uncle Charles at every family cook out and family reunion, and like all have said here, he was smiling. Happy, and wonderful and I can't ever remember him arguing with anyone. Even though he worked for Xerox, he still lived in church hill because he was rooted and grounded and never forgot where he came from. My uncle Charles made everyone feel special, important and loved, because you knew he loved you. He touched so many lives. Well Uncle Charles I love you and will miss you.

Nolda,
A rose may lose its bloom,
But still the fragrance lingers long.
A bird my fly away,
Yet we can still recall its song.
So when someone who is loved departs
To join the Lord above,
They’ll live and laugh and be with us
In memories of love.
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

To Ricky and the entire Family of Charles Jackson. I did not know your love one personally, but from all the entries on this guess book I can tell that he was well loved. Family, kow that god gives you know more than you can bare. Ricky, I can't say I know how you feel, but I will say that I have been there. The days ahead maybe rough but when those days occur put your hands in gods hands for he will see you through. Remember earth has know sorrow that heaven cannot, heal, for weeping will endure for evening, but joyeth will come in the morning.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

At first i thought it hurt so much to loose him because of the way it happened, but when i thought about it,it would've hurt the same even if his time here ended when he was 96 or 106 because of the type of man you were-loving, caring and kind. Although he is gone he is never forgotten and he lives on in my memories and in my heart. I love you Uncle Charles!!!

To my dearest big brother: Words can not express the pain and sense of loss for my mentor, friend, protector, supporter, and inspiration. I hear your voice as you say " Hey babysister or Hey baby!" at the start of every conversation as we would spend hours at a time talking about everything. Your beautiful smile, altruistic endeavors have not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. You have given so much to so many in your short time here on earth. I still can not believe it. Your positive, upbeat spirit and fiercely independent style will always be remembered and respected. You taught my alot. I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU WITH ALL OF MY HEART. GOD BLESS YOU AND PEACE BE WITH YOU.
Your Babysister with love,

I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Jackson family. I only knew Charles for a short while but had seen him many times in the neighborhood while visiting my relatives on 30th Street over the years. Charles welcomed me and my family to the neighborhood just 1 year ago with his big smile and friendly conversations daily. The neighborhood will not be the same without him, but I hope your family will find comfort in knowing that the families on 30th loved Charles and will truly miss him in more ways than one. To the Jackson Family and extended family members, friends and others,
I worked with Charles at Xerox for many, many years and quite a few years ago. I was shocked and sadden to hear of Charle's passing. Try to hold on to the good memories; and hope those memories will sustain you at this very, very difficult time. So many people mentioned and remembered his smiling face; and so do I. It is the first thought that come to my mind. Even though I had not seen Charles recently, it was as though it were yesterday; and we were all Xerox (service) family. May you draw strength from your memories, and let God carry you through.

Charles was my technician for 10 years, and his visits not only meant I'd get my machine repaired, but that I would have the pleasure of spending time with a really nice man who loved life and had a wonderful smile. I may not have seen him for a while, but I have no doubt that didn't change.
My heart goes out to his family, friends, neighbors, and to the men and women of Xerox who worked with him for so long. He will be missed, this very good man, and our community has suffered a loss in his passing. I pray God blesses and conforts us all.

May the Lord comfort you all greatly and give you all the mercy and grace to go through the upcoming days ahead. May God Bless and keep you all strong, taking every day life, One Day At a Time. In Jesus Name.
