In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Though I do not know Charley, I would bet that we are related in some distant way.
In reading about his life I was very moved and impressed by all that he accomplished and by all the love that comes through so clearly from his family.
The USA is certainly much the better for all that he has achieved.

Charley was such a wonderful person. I played golf with Charley on the Fort Lee social league and he was not only a gentlemen but a great golfer. He shared golf tips and was always willing to come to the aid of us less skilled golfers. His smiling face will be missed on the golf course. God bless you and your family....Terry Hyatt-Amabile, Fort Lee, VA

Charley was a super worker at his job, extremely devoted to his family, fun loving, and one heck of a tennis player. He beat me almost every time we played. Thinking of Charley and his extended family in this time of sorrow. Offering my deepest condolences, prayers, thoughts and any measure of comfort I may be able to extend during this most difficult time. God Bless Charley for his goodness to others and upmost character during his all too brief time on this earth.

Charley was one of the first people I met when I started work at Fort Lee back in '94. He was always a professional, never wavered from his dedication to the soldier, but never took himself too seriously. I remember sitting in meetings with him, just waiting for one of his witty comments, or sharing a story. He was truly a great guy. To his family, friends and co-workers, I am so sorry for your loss.

I worked with Charlie for a number of years, and he also became my boss at the Enterprise Systems Directorate, Ft. Lee. I will miss him greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

To the Beall Family,

I will miss seeing Charley at the Thursday Social Golf League. He was a great guy, with a permanent smile on his face, except when he hit a bad shot! Just know that you are in our hearts and prayers during this difficult time.
