Clifton "Bruce" Hall Jr.

HALL, Clifton "Bruce" Jr., age 56, of Midlothian, passed away in his home on January 8, 2009 after a courageous fight with ALS. He is survived by his loving wife, Bruce Parrish Hall; and wonderful son, Michael McPherson Parrish. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Bruce Hall Sr.; and his mother, Lelia Fulton Hall. Born January 23, 1953 in Farmville, Va., his family moved to Virginia Beach when he was nine, where his love of the water became obvious. An avid surfer throughout his adult life, Bruce traveled to South America, Hawaii, Mexico, and all along the shores of the United States in search of the "perfect wave." A sweet, caring man, talented master carpenter, lover of books and animals, he also had a passion for cooking. Bruce spent many happy hours in the kitchen preparing delicious meals with recipes from his collection of hundreds of cookbooks. A service will be held at Brandermill Church on Saturday, January 16, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the ALS Association, 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, Md. 20855.
