Robert Pinkham

1930 - 2025

Robert "Bob" Marshall Pinkham passed away on November 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service. Born on February 19, 1930, in Port Chester, N.Y., Bob built a life marked by professional commitment and personal devotion.

Bob graduated from Virginia Tech and loyally supported his alma mater for the rest of his life. Following service in the Army as a proud member of the Army Corps of Engineers and serving in Korea, Bob began his civilian career as an engineer with Western Electric in Winston-Salem, N.C. He remained with the company through its many evolutions-Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, and ultimately Nokia-demonstrating steadfast loyalty throughout his tenure.

A man of faith, Bob was a lifelong member of Manakin Episcopal Church. He served faithfully as a deacon and was a frequent layreader, contributing to the spiritual life of his community with humility and grace.

Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Reid Pinkham. He is survived by three children, Susan Ruberry (Bill) of Heathsville, Va.; Rob Pinkham (Christen) of San Diego, Calif.; and Elizabeth Boykin (Mike) of Midlothian, Va. He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren, William Ruberry, Matthew Ruberry, Caroline Boykin, and Robbie Boykin.

Outside of work and church, Bob found joy in simple pleasures. He loved tending to his garden, spending time with his black labradors who were treasured companions over the years, and enjoying a good glass of bourbon.
