In Loving Memory of William Blake Robertson
William Blake Robertson, known to all as Blake, 86, of
Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026. His passing followed a traumatic fall on the ice on January 30; though he fought with the strength and resilience that defined his life, he was ultimately unable to overcome the challenges associated with his injuries.
A True Son of Williamsburg
Born and raised in Williamsburg, Blake was the son of the late Jim and Elizabeth ("Buster") Robertson. He was a proud graduate of Virginia Tech, where he served in the Corps of Cadets. Blake carried his Hokie pride throughout his life and always looked back on his years in Blacksburg with great fondness.
Cultivating the Community
For over thirty years, Blake owned and operated Olde Capitol Landscape. A man of vision and hard work, he left an indelible mark on the community he loved. Many of the beautiful landscapes throughout Williamsburg stand today as a testament to his skill in design and his dedication to his craft. Beyond his professional work, Blake was deeply invested in the youth of his community, serving for many years as a dedicated coach for Little League baseball.
Jokes, Jigsaws, and the Great Outdoors
Those who knew Blake will remember him most for his relentless "bad" Dad jokes, a love of fishing, and his summer vegetable gardens-especially his legendary tomatoes and one monstrous zucchini many years ago. He was a man who appreciated the quiet challenge of a daily crossword puzzle and the steady progress of a jigsaw puzzle on the table. When he wasn't outside, he could usually be found in his favorite chair, thoroughly enjoying a football or baseball game on television.
Family and Legacy
Blake's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Michelle Ball (Tom) and Ricky Robertson; and his beloved grandchildren, Kellyn, Lydia, and Jared McBride, and Blake, Carli, and Tori Robertson.
His family remains deeply grateful for the lessons he taught them about maintaining a strong work ethic and facing life's challenges head-on. His legacy will bloom in the gardens he built and the family he loved so dearly.
Services
A celebration of Blake's life will be held on Saturday, February 21, at 2:00 pm at Walnut Hills Baptist Church, 1014 Jamestown Rd,
Williamsburg, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Blake's memory to a charity of your choice that supports local youth sports or community beautification.
