JONES, Dorothy Meares, 100, of Richmond, went to be with our Lord on Friday, November 13, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey M. Jones Sr.; son, Harvey M. Jones Jr.; granddaughter, Dorothy Anne Jones of Virginia Beach; two brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by a son, Ralph G. Jones and his wife, Mary Catherine "M.C.," of Chester; daughter-in-law, N. Jean Jones of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, William H. Jones and wife, Sibyll, of Virginia Beach, Garland B. Jones of Williamsburg, and Molly Anne Jones of Chester; four great-grandchildren, W. Taylor Jones, Larkyn A. Guerrieri, Madelyn Anne Jones, and Sarah J. Jones of Virginia Beach; and a cousin, Merle Marsh of Florida. Mrs. Jones has been an active member of Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church since joining in 1956, where she served as president of the Joy Williams Sunday School Class. She served as vice-president and treasurer of the family owned business, Jones & Gooding Inc., a home appliance business in Carytown, until it was sold to Lipscombe Service upon retirement. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., with the family to receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Endowment Fund" of Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church, 2300 Dumbarton Rd., Richmond, Va. 23228, or Hospice of Virginia, 7231 Forest Ave., Richmond, Va. 23226.
