Douglas Alexander Brown

BROWN, Douglas Alexander, 47, cherished son, brother, and uncle, passed away at the Medical College of Virginia on November 18, 2010 after a brief illness (acute monocytic leukemia). Doug, born January 3, 1963 in Coronado, Calif., was predeceased by his mother, Mary Ann Brown and is survived by his father, Joseph W. Brown; and three brothers and their wives, David and Deborah Brown of Clemmons, N.C., Andrew and Sharon Brown of Stuttgart, Germany, and Jeffrey and Ruby Brown of Gloucester. Douglas was dearly loved and admired by his family, church and friends. His unselfish example to his family was deeply inspiring. The family would be honored to receive the fellowship of family and friends on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Andrews Funeral Home in Gloucester from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Singleton United Methodist Church in Ware Neck, Gloucester, on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. A private burial will be held at a later date at Singleton United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family expresses sincere gratitude to the medical professionals of the Medical Respiratory ICU at MCV as well as the doctors and nurses of the Emergency Center at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, all of whom selflessly cared for Douglas. Memorial donations may be made to Singleton United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Andrews Funeral home, Gloucester, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
