Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to all our Friends & Families. Your prayers and wonderful words of encouragement have truly helped me to close this chapter of my son's life. I now begin the journey he would have wanted me to continue on, and that is to ensure my walk is in step with the Lord to keep me strong. I ask for your continued prayers as I tread forward deeper into this physical path of life without my son. GOD BLESS YOU ALL !!!

A few days ago, I sat my students down and told them about one of the greatest men I've ever met in my life. I told them about Ray's kindness, positive attitude, and devotion to family, friends, God, and his craft. It was a pleasure to know him, and I hope it brings all family and friend comfort to know that he is definitely with God. I love him, will miss him, and I thank God that I was able to meet him and play in jazz groups with him, both in school and out of school. God bless his family at this time, and God bless you Ray for making the world a better place.

To the Henley family,

I was informed of Dwayne (Ray) going to heaven. I know how a strong, kind and wonderful young man he was. I watched him grow over the years at St Paul's and his love for the drums. He lived every day to the fullest. Words cannot express how I feel but know that my heart goes out to you all. Teresa, know that I am praying for you and your family during this time.

To the family of Dwayne "Ray" Henley, words cannot express my shock and saddness at the loss of a humble and gifted man of God. It was a pleasure to work with Ray musically and see his expression of love for the Lord through the playing of the drums. Through Ray's illness, I personally never heard him complain. He always greeted me with a smile and handshake. You will be missed by many, but I'm glad that you are resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus Christ.

The Mighty Survivors Of Christ Reunion Choir of Saint Pauls Baptist Church, Pastor Lance Watson. "Ray", I know you had to accept the call to play the drums for the heavenly choir above. Gosh your skills are all that and who wouldn't want to play for and with Jesus. We are very honored to have been your earthly choir and the times we shared over these many many years have been stained in time. You will be missed from sight during these upcoming rehearsals and the reunion concert but we will celebrate you in spirit on June 27th 2010 at the concert. Elder Lindsey was right when he said, that this reunion was not for show but that we had come back, for this season, to be a blessing to someone, in some shape or form. A blessing in prayer, to forgive and be forgiven so that we could go on and fulfil our destiny, to be a light and a witness, to testify that God has not forgotten us and that He is still taking care of us. We will miss you "DRUMMER BOY" and we pray that our last face to face encounter, was one of your happiest times. For God knows that was one of the best praying rehearsals we've had since the late 1990s and even 2000. Our prayers now shift to all who had the priviledge to see, experience, know and love you. We will see you again.............

Words can not begin to express how I feel about losing the closest person to me so I won't try. I will say that Ray and I had a bond that no one could ever come between and he was my brother first, my cousin and my friend. My heart is heavy and has a hole that can't ever be filled. I know Ray will continue to check up on me and in fact he already has, but my selfishness aside I am glad that he can finally rest. I knew the struggle he was having and he did it with grace. He always wanted to make sure everyone was ok and now he can finally rest hisself. I love you Ray and I miss you terribly. Tell Nana, Shorty and Grancy to stop all that hugging and let you go get your welcome home hug from God...lol I love you!

A LETTER TO MY LOVE

My dear loving husband,
On the morning of April 25th 2010 right after we spoke and I put you to sleep at 5:30 am; I wish I knew God was going to take you into his arms later that morning. I must admit it was as if we knew it was our last day on earth together. We made plans, you were excited about going to the beach, and you told me how much you loved you mother, friends and family like you do all the time but that morning it was as if you wanted me to deliver a message. We got to daydream also of your favorite places that you wanted to take me to when I arrived. Most importantly, I got to hear you tell me how much you love me 1 last time and I got to tell you how much I love you also.
Thank you for leaving me with so many wonderful memories. Thank you for sending that picture of you that you took the day before. Thank you for taking our last pictures in our Paris apartment especially the one of you on the drums. Isn’t it something how the last few weeks you could not get into that apartment cause of your DSL and the last day you are here it worked. I thank God he allowed us to have 1 last night in Paris together… it was paradise my love.
I am bless and honored to have had the opportunity to marry you, carry your name and continue to keep your memory alive. I am thankful to be a part of your family’s lives and have a great mother-in-law who has passed over her strength on to me. I will never delete my MRSrayz_up account and I will continue to go to our first home you got us and the others and just remember the good times we had. I will miss our 80’s private parties on the beach, the jazz music you would play for me, us matching our outfits, hearing you say honey I’m home, you telling me you love my accent, dancing with you, laughing with you and you telling me how much you love me before we went to sleep.
I hear you now my love playing those drums in heaven you go baby you sound good. Your real life family, your virtual family, your real life friends, your virtual friends, BMG, Divaz and Donz all miss you and will never forget you as well. I miss you so much but I know you are now at peace. I will cherish the messages, the video messages, our online videos, your pictures and our pictures as long as I shall live. I will love you always and forever my husband. Till we meet again my love…

Columbus "C-Dre" Williams

April 27, 2010

My name is Columbus WIlliams, I knew Dwayne Henly as "Rayz_Up" on the Playstation Network, where he knew me as "C-Dre". We only recently became friends there, so I didn't get the opportunity to get to know him on a more personal level like so many others there did.I'm affiliated with his online brotherhood called "The Donz" in which Ray was highly active. Our last conversation was only a few days ago at an online party. Ray was behind the bar fixing me virtual drinks and cracking all kinds of jokes. We was in a seperate area of the club, away from the fast music and dancing. Ray was playing more slow/mellow tunes and I told him that was more my style. He instanly agreed with me and told me that was what we had in common. For that short instance we was able to bond before having to mingle with other people. Ray's presence touched a lot of people in that virtual world, so I can only imagine the impact he had on those that knew him in the real one. My deepest sympathies go out to his friends and family. You are all in my prayers.

My deepest Condolences to the Henley Family,
I had the pleasure of meeting Ray when I joined the Marching Band in 1994. Ray had a light that was so bright and a heart that was even bigger. I will remember the times we all shared on the long trips, and just laughing and joking in the Band room. Ray we all love you and you will truly be missed. But God loved so much more that he has a bigger job for you to do. Rest in Peace.

To the family of Ray Henley, our hearts are truly sadden and our prayers go out to all of you. We met Ray through our son Ty. Ray was like a son to my husband and I. He was a brother to our daughters. Although our hearts are deeply sadden, we have comfort in knowing Ray is at peace with the LORD. He touched so many lives and that may have been his purpose for being in our lives. To teach us all something. We will remember your smile, honesty and most of all your kindness. Your job is done, rest now our son, rest. Love, Dad & Mom Onley, Randi and Tyra Onley

Ray was one of the kindest and brightest spirits I had meet. He was always in a good mood and never held malice for anyone. I will always remember his laugh...He would hold the microphone button and give a deep long laugh as if that was his favorite thing in the world to do. He taught me kindness, friendship, togetherness and loyalty in this world of ours! I will greatly miss Ray, and will never forget him, who he was, and what i learned from knowing him...

I don't know where to begin. I remember the little boy that came to NY and played the drums with Dr. Lonnie Smith and played them well. It seems like only yesterday and now you are playing drums for the Lord. My only regret is that I did not get to spend as much time as I would have liked with you and the rest of the family when I moved to VA. I am very proud of the young man you were and know without a doubt that you are resting in the arms of the one who created us all. Kiss my sister, your grandmother for me and tell them all we will see them when the father calls us as He called you, home. RIP, Aunt Floydean

It is truly a great thing when you can remember all of the things and times you shared with a person and they were ALL positive. Nowadays you can't say that too often but as I sit here and reminisce on times I shared with Ray, I am smiling. The experiences we shared while marching at Huguenot High School are times that will carry me through life. We are all shouting out 'UUUU KNOW' for you, as I know you are up there yelling 'DRUM LINE'!

Ray, sunshine was your constant companion and you always set the example of compassion and acceptance that we should all strive to achieve. You brought happiness and positivity to all who had the pleasure of knowing you. Rest in Gods arms my friend and may those who loved and cherished you find comfort in the beauty you left with us.

To the family of Ray Henley, I offer my deepest condolences. Ray was my classmate, my band buddy, a sweet sweet spirit, and now God's little drummer boy. On behalf of the Huguenot High School Class of '97 and the Marching Falcons I salute you Ray for every beat you've ever created, every song you've ever written and every time you've been there to help us every step of the way. We love you and pray God's blessings upon your family.
