DOWDY, Edison Lincoln Jr. "EDDIE" or "ROWDY," as he was called by his close friends lost his battle with cancer on Friday, August 27, 2010, at Retreat Hospital in Richmond. Formerly of Pearisburg, Va., Glen Allen became their home in August 2005. "ROWDY" is survived by his wife of 47 years, Alice Williams Dowdy of Glen Allen; one son, Tony Dowdy and wife, Anne, of Glen Allen; one daughter, Elizabeth D. Skaggs and husband, Mitch, of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Edison Drew Lagan of Roanoke, Stephanie Anne Dowdy and Caroline Grace Dowdy, of Glen Allen. "ROWDY" was known in the Corvette and Harley-Davidson circles for his 1963 Corvettes and his 1950s Designed Road King Classic. "ROWDY'S" wish was to thank Waugh Harley-Davidson in Orange, Va., Zip Corvette in Mechanicsville, Va., Richmond Harley-Davidson, Richmond Import Services and Dominion Chevrolet for making his transition to Glen Allen a happy experience since 2005. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, September 19, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Shady Grove United Methodist Church in Glen Allen, with the Rev. David Adkins officiating. "ROWDY'S" family wishes to thank the Hospice of Virginia staff for their comfort and support. To all the nurses who helped with his care, you are truly examples of God's angels. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society-Giles Relay For Life- c/o Sandra Clark, 307 Mayo Circle, Pearisburg, Va. 24134.
