HARRIS, Esther W. "Skeeter," 79, of Powhatan, departed this life November 8, 2010 surrounded by her family at home. She leaves to cherish her memories devoted husband of 61 years, Kenneth B. Harris. She is also survived by three children, Kenneth B. Harris Jr. (Peggy), Johnnie R. Harris, Virginia H. Hammock; sister, Helen Johnson; five grandchildren, Brad L. Harris, Danielle G. Sharp (Mike S.), Jamie L. Hammock (Andrea L.), Suzanne Hennessey, Shannon H. Oliver ( Blaine W.); nine great-grandchildren and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marion Roberts; and brother, Bernard Wilson. The family will receive friends Wednesday (tonight) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett-Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rte. 60), Powhatan. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m., in Red Lane Baptist Church. Interment church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Powhatan Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 247, Powhatan, Va. 23139.

My deepest sympathy to all of you. I have wonderful memories of Esther with my grandma at Bingo. Esther would always smile at me when I was sitting at her table with my Grandma. She was a sweet and caring woman. I am sorry for your loss.

Dear Kenneth and JR, I was just asking someone about Esther the other day. I have very fond memories of going to bingo with her. She would always sit across from me and would wink. She was an exceptional woman and will be greatly missed. You are in my prayers.
