EVELYN THARPE Obituary

THARPE, Evelyn, Bruce, 61, of Chase City, Va., passed away on November 19, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, William Curtis Tharpe. She is also survived by her mother, Polly Bruce of Chase City, Va.; three sons, Dwayne and wife, Melinda Tharpe, of Chase City, Va., Gray and wife, Kristen Tharpe, of Raleigh N.C., and Nick Tharpe of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Gage Tharpe, Ireland Tharpe, Max Tharpe, Tegan Tharpe, and Eaton Tharpe; two brothers, Rex and wife, Ruby Bruce, of Chase City, Va. and Danny and wife, Vicki Bruce, of Montpelier, Va.; four sisters, Judy Bruce of Chase City, Va., Nancy and husband, Wayne Pennell, of Trinity, N.C., Cindy and husband, Dwight McMahan, of Trinity, N.C., and Robbin, and husband, Tim Fitzgerald, of Salisbury, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Bruce Sr., and a brother, Ed Bruce. She was employed through the Mecklenburg County Public Schools at Chase City Elementary. She was a former employee at Huss Trucking. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, P.O. Box 824061, Philadelphia, Pa. 19182. Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
