FRANCES CHRISTIAN Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Sep. 13, 2010.
CHRISTIAN, Frances Ruth, age 73, entered into eternal rest, unexpectedly on Friday, September 10, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Eldon Christian; leaving behind her siblings, Alma Stuart, Margaret Padgett, Don Hale and Pete Hale. Her loving children are: Donna Christian Hart and husband, Buddy, of Key West, Fla., Scott Christian and Beth Christian Waldrop and husband, Chuck, of Chesterfield, and Todd Christian and wife, Charlotte, of Amelia. She will be fondly remembered as "Nanny" by her grandchildren, Daniel, Shanna Kay, Lacey and Mary Todd. Frances attended St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing in Richmond, Va. becoming a Registered Nurse. She was a dedicated and caring nurse at Tucker Pavilion for 18 years, and then at Chippenham Hospital for the next 19 years where she served as Nursing Supervisor. With 37 cumulative years of nursing, "Frankie," as she was affectionately called, seemed born to care for others. Even upon retiring, she spent the remainder of her days in loyal service to her friends, family and neighbors. She dearly loved spending time with her lifelong "Golden Girl" friends, and her wonderfully supportive Ladies Bible Study Group. The family will receive visitors on Monday, September 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, Va. 23113 with a memorial service at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, September 14, at 2 p.m. A graveside service will immediately follow at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frances's memory to Amelia Community Church - Music Ministry, P.O. Box 357 Amelia, Va. 23002.

To all my cousins: I don't really know what to say. You know Frankie was just like my sister, growing up together in the same house and room. I couldn't have loved her any more if she had been. I am so sorry I can't be there with you but it just isn't possible. My heart will be with you tonight and tomorrow. I will miss her phone calls and visits very much. She was a very special aunt and no one can ever take her place. Love, Kaye
