Very sorry for your loss. Was a friend of Gorden's while in school as well as the Sea Scouts. Was also a friend of his sister, Sue, now Sue Pieper.

Gordon was a fine and friendly young man. I miss the occasional visits from him and Elaine. I still see the house across the street as the Hamlet House and remember the pleasant times with the Hamlet family.

Well Dad it only took me a year to write in this guestbook but my procrastination doesn't mean that I didn't love you greatly and I still do and always will. You taught me some great lessons in life and molded me into the man I am today and I thank you for that.

I miss our trips to the races and our times at the computer looking at car videos, but what I miss most is having you on the other end of the phone or there for me in person to talk.

You were my rock and my role model and I hope to one day be half as good of a man, husband and father as you were to me, mom and kristie. I am glad that you are at peace and I hope all the suffering you had to indure for many years has gone away and you really are driving the big red ferrari in the sky.

I love you and miss you deeply.

Your loving son,
Squeak aka John-Michael

My dad was a wonderful father. He supported me 100% in whatever I was doing (mainly riding horses). He was always there for me, both my parents were, no matter what the situation. My dad taught me to accept what life deals you, but don't let it destroy you, adapt to it.

My dad's condition over the past few years progressively deteriorated and his last two weeks were very difficult, but I will treasure the time we had with him in the end and the hug he gave each us when he was in a steady decline.

I will miss my dad greatly, but I am comforted that he is at peace now and the Lord had mercy on him.

Dear Elaine and Family,
Please know you remain in our prayers. May the Lord Jesus comfort you as you grieve and give you grace for each new day as it comes. As the hymn says, ". . . strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow . . . great is Thy faithfulness."

Gordon was the big brother I never had when we were growing up in Richmond. He took me on my first camping trip (it rained the entire time). He took me riding in his MG (he told me it stood for Mike's Garrage) and taught me the words to One-Eyed One-Horned Flying Purple People Eater. We searched for animal bones down the back hedge at Noble Avenue. I remember his showing me that a Porsche will go from 0 to 80 in less that a block.

You all are in our thoughts and prayers.

To Elaine, Sue, Kristy, John-Michael and Families: Please accept my deepest sympathies for the passing of Gordon. Elaine and Gordon have been an important part of our life in Northern Virginia. Although I only knew Gordon for the last few years, he was a wonderful friend and the kind of man I enjoyed being with. I loved the way he would tell jokes at the most surprising moments. And I loved his passion for a fun movie and a great meal. All in all he was a gracious friend in a town where graciousness is often forgotten.

I hope you all experience some element of that grace in your lives in the coming years and when you do you remember Gordon, I know I will.

One of my favorite memories is when Dad Hamlet took us to The Homeplace during one of the parents' weekends at Hollins. Our families had a great time that evening! Wishing you peace.

Sue and family,
I am so sorry to learn of Gordon's death. Gordon and I were very good friends in high school when we were in the same Sea Scout Ship at Ginter Park Baptist Church in Richmond. Before I had a car he would give me rides to the Sea Scout functions in his
Renault 4CV. My condolences to the entire family.

We will remember Gordan as a kind man who made us laugh!
With love and heartfelt prayers,
