Harold King

KING, Harold, 89, died November 7, 2009 in Williamsburg, Va., after a lengthy illness. He will be lovingly missed by his daughter, Kathy; his son, Chip; daughter-in-law, MaryLynn; and grandsons, Matthew and Riley. Hal was born in Morristown, N.J., grew up in Hopewell, Va. and resided in Richmond from 1954 to 1980, where he worked for The Life Insurance Company of Virginia. Hal was an avid tennis player and longtime supporter of Richmond Tennis, playing, coaching and teaching well into his seventies. In 1972, he was inducted into the W&M Athletic Hall of Fame. Hal received his B.S. and Master's in P.E. from The College of William & Mary. He proudly served as a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Hal King was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Evelyn Cosby. They will be reunited in the Memorial Garden on the campus of William & Mary with a service in the spring.
