My big brother was an amazing person his entire life. I was well blessed to have never known my life without Phil in it. He motivated people even as a young boy -- it's in his DNA. His smile would light up a room -- that big smile of his would win anyone over. Not many big brothers could convince a 10 year old little sister that it would be a bundle of fun to spit shine his combat boots, but those of you who knew Phil well, can easily see how it would be an honor as his little sister to do whatever he asked -- to please him and see that smile on his face was all the reward anyone could want. He was my big brother in every sense of the word -- my protector and my love and I thought he hung the moon. No one was ever bigger in heart and spirit, or kinder or more loving and giving. What a man - God has one more angel in heaven looking over us.
Much, much, much love,
Rest in Peace, you've well earned it,
Marylin

I cannot begin to evaluate the effect Phil had on my career. I was so lucky to have him as the first G.M. I ever worked for. Phil could teach you tons of stuff just by being around him, and always the sense of humor.
Thank you Phil

I was very fortunate to have worked with Phil for 8 yearsat WRVQ. He showed me that work can be fun and we were not employees but we became part of his family. I always remember him saying "I cant believe I get paid for doing something I love" and I agreed with him. I condisered those years working with him were to have been the best!
Phil was one of a kind and he will be missed!!
All my love for the family.

I did not know Phil personally. His sister, Marylin, is my sister-in-law, and a jewel. I know from reading about Phil that his family will miss him tremendously but will be comforted by the knowledge that he is now in Heaven with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Sincere condolences to his family.

I first met Phil in 1979, when I was selling for Q-107/Washington, with Richmond as one of my territories. Since our stations had a similar format, I figured there was no harm in getting to know the guy who ran one of the best CHR stations in the country! I always stopped in to see Phil when I was in town. Phil changed my life when he recommended me to Radio & Records, where ended up working for 20 years. Ana worked with me at R&R in DC for a bit. We stayed in touch over all the years. What a wonderful man, and what a wonderful family. My heart goes out to all of you. I am blessed to have known him.

Phil Goldman made an impact everywhere he went. He will never be forgotten. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. The Richmond community will truly be less with his passing. I had the privilege of knowing him first as a competitor, later as advertiser on his station and of course as a friend. Our agency lunches with Phil (at Omar's…where else, back in the day) were epic, to say the least. After all these years, I will remember Phil best as the quintessential family man. My family and I extend our condolences to his family on their loss.

Those of us who were lucky enough to work for Phil know what kind of man he was and how much he meant to us and our familys. He had a personality that was bigger than life, a drive to compete and win the right way, and he made sure we all had fun doing it. During the 22 years he was at the helm of Q94 he touched countless people who never knew him, and anyone who ever met him never forgot him. He was the heart and soul of the radio station and Richmond was, and is, a better place because of him.

Phil was the best boss ever! We loved him because he never made it a job...he made it a joy. And what an inspiration he was as a father, husband, man. I will miss him always but I will never forget him. Love to all of the Goldmans...
