James Bibbs Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Sep. 18, 2010.
BIBBS, James S. "Bodie," 67, having kicked cancer's butt for six years, went home to God and his family September 16, 2010. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by those who loved him. He is survived by his Aunt Peggy; his brother, Bobby; his wife, Debbie; his sister, Mary, and his little sister, Betty, whom he affectionately called "Boop." He is also survived by nephews, Bill, Willy and Robert; his nieces, Valerie, Bridgett and Michelle; great-nephews, Jason, Joseph, James, Christopher, Michael and Thomas; great-nieces, Loren, Laura, Jennifer and Ashley; great-great-niece, Savannah; great-great-nephew, Benjamin; and numerous cousins. Bodie proudly served his nation in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He continued to serve by volunteering for experimental chemotherapy at the McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond, with the hope of helping others. The family will receive friends at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel, Lovingston, Va. Saturday (today) from 6 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Arrington, Nelson County at 2 p.m. Monday, September 20, where he will be buried in the family plot next to his mother, Elizabeth Stevens Bibbs. We love you, Uncle Bodie! Tell the family, especially Grandma, we said hi, and we will see you later. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project would be greatly appreciated.
