My deepest thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of sorrow. Your mother was a mentor, friend, educator and a campus icon who was loved, respected, and adored by the entire student body. Your MOM worked hard and couldn't believe that many of those basic exercises were nearly impossible for me to perform. She said she would always remember Walton from Danville, VA and she did. What a joy to visit their home after the homecoming game!!! She will be greatly missed. We have so many wonder memories of both of them.

Maurice and Bruce,
Your Mother was a very special person to me. Your Mom was a Mother to me and your Dad was my other Dad. We had a special relationship living across the hall from your family in "The Apartments" on Fourth Avenue across the street from the stadium at State. Many of us were debutantes and your Mom helped guide us through the process. I also pledged Delta because of your Mom, my other Mom. Your parents were loved by all of us who grew up in Ettrick and will be missed by all of us. We loved "Aunt Kat and Uncle Pete". We have so many wonderful memories of them.

Love to you both!

Sympathy is extended to the Bennett family in the loss of their mother. Ms. Bennett would always speak of we Recreation majors; she loved the Physical Education majors more. I loved her still and worked harder to prove myself to her. Later, she came into my life as a mentor to my daughter as a debutante. Ms. Bennett will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Maurice & Bruce:
My deepest sympathies on the loss of your mother. She and your father were instrumental in helping me during my years at Virginia State, both as a student and as an athlete. You were truly fortunate to have had such wonderful people as your parents. I trust that you both will find a way to be strengthened during this time, by knowing how many people were touched by their lives.....Lin Hart, Chesterfield, MO

Bruce and Maurice, though God has taken another angel home, he's left the wonderful memories of her to help lift you from your sadness. I will always think of your mother as a woman who was full of grace and kindness. It was great having her as one of our neighborhood moms. Please accept my deepest condolences to you.

Bruce and Maurice: My God be with you and your family. I remember how Coach will have us (trackteam) over for breakfast on track meet days and Mrs Bennent seem to really enjoy us being there. They were like parents away from home.

To the Bennett Family, my most sincere condolences go out to you in this time of sorrow. I had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Bennett from my days at Virginia State and know how loved and respected she was. I also had the pleasure of knowing Bro. Pete Bennett. They were quite a couple. They will be fondly remembered.

My heart goes out to the Bennett family during this time of bereavement.

As a student at VSU states away from home I always felt comfort in knowing the Bennetts were around the corner. They would always welcome their grandchildren's friends to visit or go out to eat on their family outings.

Katherine's warm spirit was always present, providing a home away from home for many, not to forget those countless words of encouragement and wisdom.

The Matriarch of the Bennett Family has gone on to a better place, but her legacy continues through the lives of the individuals that she touched along the way.

Temi & Family, may your memories of all of the wonderful times that you shared with this special woman bring you comfort.

To the Bennett Family: Dr. Bennett always was one beautiful Lady. She carried herself with dignity and charm. I never studied under her at State, but I admired her and Bro. Bennett. Love to you. Foster & Ruth Miles, Class of 1961 and 1964.
