Kermit OWEN Obituary

OWEN, Kermit Hoy, beloved "Opa," left to join his grandson, Josh, in Heaven on December 3, 2009. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Jerry; five children, Neal and Phyllis Owen of Pahrump, Nev., Brad and Lorrie Owen of Raleigh, N.C., Andy and Lynn Owen of Amelia, Lu Owen of Burkeville and Mary and Chris Link of Green Bay; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, Mike Simboli of Farmville. Kermit was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific on the destroyer "USS Black." He was the son of Damron and Bertha Owen; and is also survived by four sisters, Shirley Henley of Greensboro, N.C., Charlean Fowlkes of Burkeville, Ruth Batt of Melbourne, Fla. and Judy Clark of Murfreesboro, N.C. Funeral services will be private. Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home of Crewe is assisting the family.
